Hi, it's Lena! 🤍 Autumn has arrived in our little village, bringing beautiful golden colors, cooler days, and so many little things to do around our home. In this video, we visit my parents and bring home pumpkins from my mom's garden, homemade preserves, fresh vegetables, and other lovely gifts. It's always such a warm feeling to return to the place where I grew up. Back home, I spend some time tidying up the garden, preparing for the colder months, and taking care of our animals. Our dogs and cats are always nearby, keeping us company and making everyday life a little more interesting. I also wanted to make our outdoor kitchen feel especially cozy this autumn. I gathered physalis, hawthorn berries, and branches from the garden, made a wreath, arranged pumpkins and flowers, and decorated everything with warm little lights. We dried oranges, mandarins, lemons, and limes in our sauna for tea, baking, and seasonal decorations. And of course, autumn wouldn't feel complete without something delicious from the oven! I baked homemade butter cookies and apple cinnamon puff pastries, made a lovely cup of berry tea, and spent a peaceful evening with my husband by the warm fireplace. I hope this video brings a little autumn warmth and comfort into your day. And if you'd like to try some of the treats I made, I've shared the recipes below. 🍪🍎 🍪 HOMEMADE BUTTER COOKIES Ingredients: 3 eggs 1 cup sugar 3 cups all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon baking soda A little vinegar (to activate the baking soda) 200 g (7 oz) butter, melted and slightly cooled Instructions: 1. Lightly beat the eggs and sugar with a mixer. There's no need to beat them for too long. 2. Sift in the flour. 3. Add the baking soda mixed with a little vinegar. 4. Pour in the melted butter and mix everything well until a soft dough forms. 5. Refrigerate the dough for 15 minutes. 6. Roll it out to about 5 mm (0.2 inches) thick. 7. Cut out your favorite cookie shapes and place them on a baking tray. 8. Bake at 180°C (355°F) until the cookies turn a lovely golden color. 🍎 APPLE & CINNAMON PUFF PASTRIES Ingredients: Ready-made frozen puff pastry (without yeast), thawed Fresh apples Ground cinnamon, to taste 1½ teaspoons sugar for each pastry A little water for brushing Extra sugar for sprinkling Instructions: 1. Cut the apples into small cubes and mix them with cinnamon. 2. Cut the thawed puff pastry into pieces of your preferred size. 3. Place some apple filling in the center of each piece. 4. Add about 1½ teaspoons of sugar to each pastry. 5. Fold the pastry and seal the edges. 6. Lightly brush the tops with water and sprinkle with a little sugar. 7. Bake in a preheated oven at 210°C (410°F) for approximately 20 minutes, until golden and crispy. There's something so comforting about the smell of fresh cookies, warm apples, and cinnamon on a cool autumn evening. I hope you enjoy these simple recipes as much as we do!
