Welcome back to the channel! We're LIVE on October 1, 2026 — and we're headed home today, but Mother Nature is going to make us earn it. Big storms are in the forecast for most of the route, so this one's all about taking it slow and safe. Bodie's riding shotgun. Let's roll! RUNNING BOBTAIL: Today we're running "bobtail" — that's just the tractor by itself, no trailer attached. We dropped our last Amazon trailer down in San Antonio, so we're light and heading north to go pick up our own trailer. One thing to note: a bobtail tractor actually handles trickier in bad weather than a loaded truck — there's no weight back there to settle it down, so crosswinds and slick roads push it around more. Something to respect on a stormy day like today. GETTING OUR TRAILER BACK: We're stopping in Springdale, Arkansas to pick up our trailer from the shop. Longtime viewers will remember the forklift that punched a hole clean through our trailer floor at the shipper last week — well, it's all fixed now with a fresh floor, and we had some other maintenance knocked out while it was in the shop. It feels good to get our own equipment back, repaired and ready to roll. THE WEATHER: The big story today is the weather. We're expecting to drive through heavy storms for much of the trip — rain, wind, and reduced visibility. Driving in weather like this is one of the most demanding parts of the job: you slow down, increase your following distance, watch for standing water and hydroplaning, and keep both hands on the wheel. And if it gets bad enough, the smart move is simply to shut down and wait it out. No load, no schedule, and no deadline is worth pushing through dangerous conditions. We'll keep you posted on what the sky's doing as we go. TODAY'S ROUTE: We're leaving Waco, Texas around 7:00 AM and heading north through Texas and Oklahoma up into Northwest Arkansas — stopping in Springdale to grab the trailer, then on home to Rogers to park the truck. It won't be the prettiest day of scenery, but stormy-weather driving has its own kind of intensity, and it's a real look at what this job asks of you when the conditions turn. Ride along and stay safe with us. BODIE UPDATE: Our beagle pup Bodie ("Whitehead's Bodacious Bodie") is riding along and supervising as always — he's not a huge fan of thunder, so he'll be sticking close today. Thanks to everybody who keeps cheering him on in the chat! If you're a fellow trucker, a dog lover, or just love the open road, hop in and ride along with me and Bodie!
