I showed up to my first adult swim lesson today, cramped up twice in the first 10 minutes, and was completely winded by the 30-minute mark. What I didn't expect was how much it would mirror every other time I've started something new as an adult, whether that's YouTube, a career shift, or stepping back into life after years of caretaking.
You'll see what learning something genuinely hard feels like in real time, why a brave space matters more than the right technique, and how the exhaustion of starting is actually proof you're doing something that counts.
If you're 40-plus and in the middle of starting something new that's kicking your butt, drop it in the comments. I want to know what you're going through the exhaustion for, and what's waiting on the other side of it.
