“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” — James 4:6, KJV
Pride often begins with the quiet insistence that we must be admired, proven right, or placed above someone else. It makes correction feel like an attack and an apology feel like defeat. Yet Jesus shows us the strength of humble service. Secure in His love, we can acknowledge our faults without losing our worth and celebrate another person without feeling diminished. God’s grace frees us from constantly defending our importance. Today, practice humility through one simple act: receive correction patiently, offer an apology without an excuse, or help someone who cannot repay you. Let love for God and your neighbor matter more than being noticed.
Lord Jesus, uncover the pride I excuse in myself. Give me courage to admit when I am wrong, patience to listen, and willingness to serve without applause. Help me honor others and depend on Your grace in all I do. Amen.
