Welcome to Bilbao, the city where the Basque Country shows you its proudest and most stubborn heart. About This Walk We start in the narrow lanes of the Casco Viejo, passing Bilbao Cathedral, Plaza de Santiago and the medieval Seven Streets on the way down to the Mercado de la Ribera by the river. From Plaza Nueva the walk opens out to El Arenal and the Teatro Arriaga, then crosses into the 19th century city along Plaza Circular and the Gran Vía Don Diego López de Haro. We continue past Plaza Elíptica to the Guggenheim Museum, with Jeff Koons' Puppy and Anish Kapoor's Tall Tree and the Eye, before following the Nervión riverside back over the Zubizuri bridge to the Paseo del Arenal.
