Plant collectors, it is time to be honest with ourselves. How many times have you said you were only buying compost, that repotting would take five minutes, or that you definitely had room for one more houseplant? In this video, I’m going through 10 of the biggest lies plant collectors tell themselves. From putting off that enormous Monstera repot and convincing yourself a struggling plant is “just thirsty”, to buying another Anthurium and spending four hours researching tropical plants online, these habits will probably feel painfully familiar. Whether you own five houseplants or have filled your home with hundreds of rare tropical plants, plant collecting has a strange way of changing your behaviour. What begins as a quick watering session somehow becomes an evening of checking roots, inspecting leaves, looking for spider mites and rearranging your entire collection. This is a light-hearted look at the funny habits, excuses and questionable decisions that come with collecting houseplants.
