The prophet Jonah ministered in Nineveh in 862 B.C. The repentance that arose in Nineveh in response to Jonah’s message was deeply sincere and pleasing to God. Regrettably, before long, Nineveh once again turned away from God and even rebelled against Him. Consequently, about 150 years after Jonah’s ministry, God raised up the prophet Nahum to pronounce the fate of Assyria and its capital, Nineveh.
