Eating out over the weekend can be enough to throw off your calories and macros for the entire week, especially when you're trying to build muscle or lose fat. But eating out doesn't have to mean going off track. Even as vegans, there are plenty of ways to get a high protein meal and still enjoy the food you're eating.

We eat most of our meals at home, but obviously that's not realistic all the time. Sometimes we're traveling, sometimes we're busy, and sometimes we just want to go out and eat with friends. So instead of treating eating out like a “cheat meal,” we wanted to show you how we actually approach it.
In this video, we're taking you along with us as we find different ways to put together healthier meals while we're out. We get tofu poke bowls, build meals at Chipotle-style restaurants, look through hot food bars, and show you how we choose pre-made meals at healthy grocery stores.
We'll also show you some of the simple changes we make when ordering, like adding extra protein, choosing better sides, and asking for sauces and dressings on the side (or, as we like to say, toss the sauce).
We're approaching this from a vegan fitness perspective, but you don't have to be vegan for these strategies to work. The goal isn't to make eating out perfectly “clean” or to obsess over every calorie. It's about knowing how to make better choices so that a restaurant meal doesn't turn into an entire weekend of eating completely off track.
If you're trying to build muscle, lose fat, hit your protein goals, or simply eat healthier while eating out, hopefully this gives you some ideas you can actually use the next time you go out to eat.
