Chuck Jones wrote a set of rules for what a Wile E. Coyote cartoon was allowed to do. The Road Runner only ever says beep beep. Nothing hurts the Coyote except his own stupidity or a faulty Acme product. Gravity is the villain. The director of Coyote vs. Acme says the new film stuck to them, so I went through the trailer rule by rule and scored it.
Two of them are broken before anyone leaves the desert. Both of the broken ones are about where the story happens, and every rule about who the Coyote is survives, including rule 4, in a film that is a courtroom drama.
I also dig up the three CG Road Runner shorts Warner Bros. put out in 2010, because this is not the first go at building these characters in 3D. It is the second, 16 years apart, and comparing the two says a lot about what changed.
Note: Coyote vs. Acme does not open in Australia until 17 September, so this is scored entirely off the trailer. No spoilers in the comments please. I will come back in September and tell you how badly I did.
