Give Yourself Permission to Try: Verònica Fuerte of Hey Studio on Building Your Own Path

What if your creative block isn't actually a lack of creativity? What if it's fear? The wrong environment? Or simply not giving yourself permission to try? In this episode of Creative women, leading change, we sit down with Verònica Fuerte, founder and creative director of Hey, the independent design studio she built in Barcelona. Verònica takes us behind the scenes of her creative journey — from making handmade costumes with her mother as a child, to leaving a secure job at 27 and building her own studio from scratch. She opens up about learning leadership through experience, creating space for experimentation, balancing creativity with commercial realities, becoming a mother without putting her ambition on pause, and navigating some of the biggest changes facing the creative industry today. We also talk about AI, the future of work, the importance of community and what to do when you have an idea but don't know how to make it happen. 💡 WHAT YOU'LL LEARN Why your childhood interests can offer clues to your future How to build a creative business without losing your creative freedom Why every creative needs a space to experiment What Verònica learned about leadership the hard way How motherhood changed — but didn't stop — her ambition Why asking for help can be the first step towards making an idea real How AI is changing the creative industry Why curiosity is one of the most important tools a creative can have 🌍 RESOURCES & ACTIONS Listen to Design Matters with Debbie Millman: https://designmattersmedia.com Create your own creative playground.
