NARROW GAUGE WONDERS OF THE 600MM AND 1 METER GAUGES OF YUNAN PROVINCE

The rail lines shown in this video were constructed by French interests that built a meter gauge system connecting Kunming China with the port of Haiphong and city of Hanoi in Vietnam. A system of 500 mm lines were connected to this line to export minerals and goods found in the mountains of Yunan Province. We visited these lines in June 1990. The video scenes shown here were collected on analog tape by John Mueller of New York state. He used the technology of 1990 to digitize his footage. Unfortunately, the resolution is lacking but the sounds are good. I hope you enjoy our effort to bring this material to light.
