Sanctity In Silence - The Calm Before the Storm [ FAN-MADE COMPILATION ] | WASHINGTON DEATHCORE

Sanctity In Silence was a Deathcore band from Tacoma, Washington, active during the late 2000s. The band's only currently confirmed release is The Calm Before the Storm, a six-track self-released EP from 2008. An archived version of their MySpace preserves a band post titled “Free Download of The Calm Before The Storm EP!”, confirming that the EP was distributed online. Unfortunately, the original download appears to be lost. Only four of its six tracks have currently been recovered: The Calm Before the Storm – LOST Ashes of Addiction – SURVIVED Gun Ho – RECOVERED The Niner – LOST No Sympathy for a Siren – RECOVERED Family Guy – RECOVERED Because the original EP remains incomplete, this upload is a FAN-MADE COMPILATION using its title and surviving artwork. It combines the four recovered EP tracks with additional Sanctity In Silence material preserved through MySpace and guitarist Sean Green's SoundClick page, Horizon Recordings. Sean frequently shared his recording progress on the Ultimate Metal forums, including rough versions, instrumental recordings, mix tests and tiny DI/riff experiments. SoundClick identifies Sanctity In Silence as the author of this material, but because some files clearly represent works in progress, they should not automatically be treated as the same finished recordings that appeared on MySpace. Among them are rough/developmental recordings of Ostrich, Flagburner and The Nutcracker, as well as Zombies Update, a 3:45 track whose intended release context remains unknown. Poop Test, a short 2009 instrumental recording, has been used here as an intro because apparently an archival reconstruction deserves to begin with something called Poop Test. Spirit of Metal lists Ostrich, Flagburner and The Nutcracker together as a self-released 2010 demo. However, surviving MySpace metadata dates the individual songs to 2008–2009, and no contemporary source confirming that they were formally released together as a 2010 demo has yet been located. Sean also shared another recording titled Sleight of Hand through Ultimate Metal, but the original Dropbox links are now dead. Last.fm additionally lists Hey John, What's Your Name Again? and Nothing Personal under Sanctity In Silence, although Last.fm metadata alone is not enough to establish their origin or release status. Ashes of Addiction also received a wonderfully low-budget music video depicting the vocalist reluctantly accepting a cigarette while hanging out with the bassist and two scene/emo girls, followed by his descent into smoking addiction. The video somehow received a second life on December 31, 2018, when @catatonicyouths reposted it on Instagram with the beautifully economical caption: “you smoke?” That post has since been deleted for unknown reasons, although an archived embed confirms that it existed. The original music video fortunately survives elsewhere. Sean's surviving forum posts also provide a glimpse behind the recordings. In 2008 he stated that the Sanctity In Silence material then available on MySpace had been recorded using his Line 6 POD X3. Much of the band's history now survives scattered across archived MySpace pages, YouTube, SoundClick, old metal forums and later databases. Archaeology occasionally has a sense of humor.
