Sub-district (Kelurahan): Sempaja Timur District : Samarinda Utara (North Samarinda) City: Samarinda, East Kalimantan _______________________________________________________________________ 📊 Timeline & Impact Incident Time : Saturday, September 5, 2026, around 04:00 PM WITA. The joint task force successfully contained and fully extinguished the fire within approximately 45 minutes. Brief Chronology : The wildfire broke out on the open hilly terrains along the shortcut road connecting Sempaja Lestari and Lempake. Driven by the scorching dry weather, the massive flames expanded rapidly down the hillside. The fire dangerously encroached upon populated residential zones, reaching approximately 20 meters away from citizens' houses, which triggered intense panic among nearby residents.Casualties & Injuries: Due to the swift and precise emergency action, no houses were breached, and no fatalities or injuries were recorded. _______________________________________________________________________ 🚒 Response & On-Site Obstacles Responding Units : An integrated wildfire response team was immediately deployed, consisting of the Samarinda Fire and Rescue Department (Disdamkarmat), the City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD Samarinda), and local emergency volunteer units. Equipment Deployed : Responders utilized tactical water trucks from BPBD along with multiple portable water pumps and manual backpack sprayers to encircle the burning perimeter. Encountered Hurdles : Firefighters had to sprint and act with extreme urgency to create a protective wet containment line because the flames were dangerously close to residential fences.
