For weeks, I watched this pair of swans build and tend to their nest together. The female spent most of her time over the eggs, while the male remained close by—protecting her, and patrolling the pond. Nothing got past him. I had been told that the male would sometimes take the female's place so she could leave the nest to feed and care for herself. I had yet to witness it… until this morning. Watching them quietly change roles—the male settling over the eggs while the female took a much-needed break—was one of those moments in nature I will never forget. I was in awe! I kept the "camera rolling" and have left much of this incredible sequence intact so you can experience it as I did. Grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and watch this remarkable moment in nature unfold. All of the ambient sounds you hear are from this particular morning—the birds, people walking nearby, and even me going through my camera bag. I left them in because they were all part of the day and part of experiencing this moment exactly as it happened. When the female returned, they simply continued where they had left off, tending to the nest together before she eventually settled back over the eggs. Just another reminder of what can unfold when we slow down, wait, and watch. Thank you for watching and following this swan family’s story.
