You know what good posture looks like. So why can't you maintain it?
You sit up straight, pull your shoulders back, and remind yourself to stop slouching—but before long, you're right back in the same position.
The problem may not simply be a lack of discipline.
In this video, I explain why I don't think of posture as just a position. Posture is influenced by how well your body can move, stabilize, and support the position you're asking it to maintain.
We'll cover why upper-spine stiffness can contribute to compensation through the neck, shoulders, and lower back; why simply stretching or pulling your shoulders back may not be enough; and why improving mobility and strength can make better posture feel more natural.
The goal isn't to spend your entire day forcing yourself to “sit up straight.”
It's to build a body that's better able to support the posture you want.
Good posture isn't something you force. It's something your body earns through healthy movement.
