This video explains how the Northeast Balanced Mix Design (BMD) working group used AIEI peer exchanges, webinars, workshops, and technical assistance to turn regional interest in BMD into an active implementation network. What began as a peer exchange hosted at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) evolved into recurring collaboration on implementation questions, interlaboratory studies, and actions that are helping agencies move toward BMD more confidently and more quickly. The AIEI program's purpose is to address the ongoing challenges faced by the transportation community to adopt new technologies and reduce the time to implement them in business practices, specifications, and construction methods related to the design, production, testing, control, construction, and investigation of asphalt pavements.
