I FOUND A TASTE OF HOME IN MANCHESTER! 🇬🇧 What do you do when you're living thousands of miles away from home and suddenly start missing the taste of Zimbabwe? ❤️ In this vlog, I take you on a drive through Manchester in 2026, showcasing the city as it continues to change, with major developments, new apartments and construction transforming the Manchester skyline. Along the way, I make a special stop at Old Trafford — the home of Manchester United ⚽🏟️ — to show my viewers in Zimbabwe, South Africa and across the African diaspora what this iconic stadium looks like today. With plans for a proposed new Manchester United stadium, the future of this area could look very different in the years ahead. So I wanted to capture Old Trafford as it stands today and give you a glimpse of Manchester football history. But the main reason for this journey is much closer to my heart... 🇿🇼 I'M MISSING HOME! I head to Manaka Farm Foods in Moston/Harpurhey, a newly opened African food shop, hoping to find some of those foods that remind me of growing up in Zimbabwe. And I wasn't disappointed! 😍 🌽 Umbila / traditional white maize 🎃 Zimbabwean pumpkin 🥤 Amahewu 🥛 Amasi / sour milk 🥜 Bitter cola 🇿🇦🇿🇼 And other African foods and ingredients I even meet a Nigerian gentleman who tells me about the traditional uses of bitter cola and why it is so popular. For me, this wasn't just a shopping trip. Seeing these foods brought back memories of my younger days in Zimbabwe, including Mapisa, and reminded me how food can connect us to our childhood, our families and our home — even when we're living far away. 🌍 To everyone in the African diaspora living in the UK, Europe, America, Australia or anywhere else in the world — you will understand this feeling.
