Forrest Galante Believes 6 Extinct Animals Could Still Be Alive | Extinct Or Alive S1| Animal Planet

Forrest Galante embarks on a global mission to find species lost to time. In Taiwan, he sets camera traps in dense mountain canopies for the Formosan clouded leopard, a rare wild cat native declared extinct in 2013. In Canada, he tracks the white wolf of Newfoundland, an extinct snow-white subspecies, using thermal imaging drones and night vision optics. On Zanzibar, he captures shocking video evidence of the elusive Zanzibar leopard, proving it still exists. In the North Atlantic, Forrest searches for the great auk, known as The Dodo of the North, last seen in 1844. In Madagascar, he surveys the Tampola River for the red-fronted lemur, tracking how habitat fragmentation affects their population. In Sumatra, he investigates reports of the critically endangered Sumatran tiger surviving near palm oil plantations. He also encounters the Asian palm civet, often caught in the wildlife trade, and studies the genetic lineage of Australia's ancient dingo. Using camera trapping, vocalisation call-backs, and swamp buggy reconnaissance, Forrest proves that extinction is not always forever.
