Canada is shopping for military equipment in Europe, and that could change who earns the money from it for decades. But the headline most people expect, an American company losing a big submarine deal to the Germans, isn't what happened. The German builder was picked to negotiate, not handed a fleet contract, and the other finalist was South Korean, not American. Meanwhile, Canada has already signed a C$2.6 billion package for American rocket launchers. So what could America actually lose? Future orders, years of support work, and the default advantage of being the first call. We're going to follow three deals, a submarine, a surveillance aircraft and a rocket launcher, and see how much of that exposure is real.
