Silas Callow – Put the Seed Order in My Name (Official Audio)

Farm succession begins long before a deed changes hands. I wrote "Put the Seed Order in My Name" about the stage when responsibility starts moving through ordinary decisions. At a kitchen table in North Dakota, a daughter asks for the spring seed order to carry her name. Her father checks the acreage, questions one choice and slides his pen across the table. The farm is not hers, not yet. He simply asks which field they should plant first and waits for her answer. For me, inheritance begins in that pause.
