I had to call our children into the hospital so Lisa and I could tell them together

Treatment had ended, her care was moving to palliative and a hospice, and we were facing the reality that she had only days, or hours, left to live. The real heart wrenching moment that stays with me was when our youngest daughter, just 19, cut through everything and simply asked: "So you're not coming home?" In this video, I share the reality of facing that conversation together in the intensity of the hospital ward Afterwards, I sit at Lisa’s memorial bench, reflecting on the unpredictability of grief and an unexpected sense of peace I found there. The music in this video holds deep personal meaning: • "Dreams" by The Cranberries was a favourite of ours before the kids were born, always playing on our long, meandering road trips into the countryside. • "Fix You" by Coldplay was one of four tracks played at Lisa's funeral—each of us chose one, and this was mine. Finally, looking ahead, I am planning my very first overnight trip in “Luby-Lou Van” without Lisa. I'd love your thoughts: where is a gentle, peaceful spot you think I should take her for a first short night away?
