When someone you love passes away, you expect the heartbreak—but no one prepares you for the sudden, cold switch into practical bureaucracy. From phone calls and endless paperwork to closing accounts, "death admin" arrives at the exact moment your world has stopped, even as the rest of the world keeps rushing on.
In this video, I share my honest experience navigating the administrative side of loss after Lisa passed away, alongside five hard-earned lessons and reflections I've taken from the journey.
Along the way, ordinary life carries on: finding a surprisingly peaceful green pocket in Manor Royal industrial estate while waiting on my daughter's car MOT, grabbing a coffee, and heading out for an afternoon dog walk back home.
Stick around for the postscript at the end, where I share a gentle (and slightly humorous) thought on why you really shouldn't worry about what strangers think if you're ever walking around vlogging in public!
I hope sharing these thoughts brings a bit of comfort, solidarity, or gentle guidance to anyone currently facing this road. Be kind to yourself.
