𝗠𝗟𝗔 𝗧𝗮𝗽𝗶 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗕𝗦 𝗚𝗨𝗣𝗦, 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹

EP Desk | Pasighat | August 29, 2026: A newly constructed Type-II residential quarter and two additional classrooms at Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Upper Primary School, Pasighat, were inaugurated on Friday by 38th Pasighat East MLA Er. Tapi Darang, marking an important addition to the school’s infrastructure. The inauguration programme was attended by Shri Tagom Padung, Chief Councillor, Pasighat, Shri Rahul Tamuk, Councillor, Ward No. 5, along with Ward Councillors Mem Tamut (Ward No. 2) and Oyon Pabin (Ward No. 3), besides the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Tapi Darang stressed the need for collective efforts to restore Lal Bahadur Shastri School to its former reputation. Recalling the school’s strong standing in the past, he said the institution had once been known for its good name and expressed concern over its present comparatively low student enrolment. Darang emphasised that increasing student enrolment should be accompanied by quality teaching, discipline and better educational outcomes. He said parents would be more inclined to choose government schools when teachers provide sincere, dedicated and quality education. The MLA also spoke about the need for rational and need-based development of government schools. He said he had discussed the matter with the Deputy Commissioner of Pasighat, particularly the importance of providing facilities based on student strength and the specific requirements of individual schools. “Where there are more students, adequate facilities should be provided according to their requirements,” Darang said, while also stressing that schools with low enrolment need focused efforts to improve their academic environment and attract more students. He further observed that in some government schools, the number of teachers is relatively high compared to the student population. In this context, he underlined the importance of ensuring effective utilisation of teaching resources and improving the overall quality of education. Appreciating the staff of Lal Bahadur Shastri School, Darang particularly praised the teachers for maintaining discipline, punctuality and uniformity. He noted that the teaching staff regularly attend school in uniform, describing it as a positive example of discipline and commitment. The newly inaugurated facilities are expected to strengthen the school’s infrastructure, provide improved accommodation for staff and create additional classroom space for students. The MLA expressed hope that the combined efforts of teachers, parents, the community and the administration would help the institution regain its earlier reputation, improve enrolment and emerge as a stronger centre of quality education in Pasighat.
