Hokkaido Crane Hunt at Sunrise ❄️🕊️

Day 2 of our Hokkaido winter family adventure started in complete darkness, with an early drive to Otowa Bridge for a magical pre-dawn crane photography session. We aimed to reach Otowa Bridge at least one hour before sunrise, hoping to catch the peaceful blue-hour scene of red-crowned cranes resting along the snowy river. It was cold, dark, and a little challenging trying to find a good spot before sunrise — but that is all part of the adventure. After the sunrise session, we continued the crane trail with a visit to Akan Crane Center GRUS for the morning feeding and flight moments, before heading towards Tsurumidai later in the day for more beautiful views of the cranes in winter. This was one of those special Hokkaido days where photography, wildlife, winter landscapes, and family travel all came together. From waking up before 4am to watching cranes slowly take flight, it was tiring but unforgettable.
