Past the highway bus terminal, where the coaches wait with their doors still closed, and up the stairs into Umekita — land that was a railway freight yard for decades. Umekita Park opens out ahead: a wide lawn beneath a great curving white roof, then young woods on the north side where the paths wind between the trees. Around the building sites, where the cranes are still waiting for the day's work, and beside a still pond that reflects the towers.
