The line runs from Fukui Station directly to the hot spring town. ♨️ About Awara Onsen Awara, Fukui Prefecture, right by JR Awara-Onsen Station. Long known as "the inner parlour of the Kansai region," it is Fukui's best-known hot spring town. It began in 1883, when someone digging an irrigation well struck hot water instead. It is a relatively young hot spring, but a culture of banquet houses and geisha grew up around it, and shamisen music in the evening became part of the town. Its other distinguishing feature is how the water is supplied. Rather than one large source piped around town, each inn owns its own spring.
