Before you ever held anything, you were handed the world. God speaks, and the world appears: light, sky, sea, land, and every living creature. Then He makes people in His image and hands them everything before they have done a single thing. This song follows those open hands from the garden to a modern kitchen table where they close into a fist, and on to Jesus, whose hands were nailed open, who rose again, and who offers His hands to everyone with nothing to trade. The video follows one small orange dot from the Atomic Bible mark as it travels the whole story on the beat, from an empty palm to hands that kept their scars. Scripture on screen (BSB): "Let there be light" (Genesis 1:3) "And it was so." (Genesis 1:7) "Let Us make man in Our image" (Genesis 1:26) "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." (John 1:14) "It is finished." (John 19:30) Human written lyrics with Berean Standard Bible (BSB) Scripture on screen, quoted word for word. [Verse 1] Black deep. No beach. No branch for a bird. God's Spirit over water. Then a word: "Let there be light" White cuts the wide black. Day splits from night. No sun in the sky yet, no spark from a flint, Just light on the water where the darkness had been. Day two, waters parted, an expanse stretched through, Deep underneath, sky opening blue. Day three, seas gather, bare ridges appear, Wet rock, fresh soil, then the green breaks clear. Roots grip, shoots split, thick branches lean, Fruit swells on the stem with a forest in the seed. [Hook] Empty hands. A world to hold. You said the word. AND IT WAS SO. [Verse 2] Fourth day, sun burns, moon turns, seasons in motion, Stars scattered thick over black mountain shoulders. Fifth day, fins flick, wings lift, spray off the ocean, Whole schools wheel while the seabirds roll over. Sixth day, hooves drum, dust jumps, herds on the hillside, Beetles through the rootwork, big cats in the long grass. Then: "Let Us make man in Our image" Dust gets a rib cage. Breath gets a rhythm. Two palms open. No callus. No scar. First thing a man ever held was a gift from God. Male and female, His image in both, Two sets of footprints in a world they never sowed. [Verse 3] Back to the garden, four rivers divide, Adam names the creatures as they pass him by. Still no companion. Deep sleep. Open side. God builds the woman; he wakes to his bride. Bare skin, no flinching, no sleeve pulled low, No hand reaching up for a seam to sew. Fruit hangs within reach. One tree forbidden. Hands given work and a home to live in. Six days finished. The seventh set apart. No hammer in a hand yet. No field full of scars. Before the first harvest, before the first blade, Their empty hands open in the seventh day's shade. [Hook] Empty hands. A world to hold. You said the word. AND IT WAS SO. [The Turn] Dad at my table. The cup in his grip slips. Milk on his flannel. He presses his lips thin. He reaches for a cloth; I snatch the cup instead. Palm slams the tabletop. "Can't you watch it, Dad?" His mouth shuts. My chair scrapes. The spoon stops ringing. Milk creeps through the placemat. Nobody's drinking. He slides both hands beneath the table, out of sight. My little girl tucks hers underneath her thighs. [Silence] [Bridge] "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." Jesus. Skin over knuckles. Dust on His ankles. Hands at a basin. Knees on the floor. Washing the feet that would run from the soldiers. Then those hands spread on a beam He created. Iron driven in. He bears the wrong I did. No fist raised back at the fists in His face. "It is finished." They carry Him into a grave. [Verse 4] First day. Dawn cracks. The stone's rolled clear. Grave cloths. Bare rock. No body here. Then Jesus stands in the room they barred, Opens both hands. Every nail left a scar. He came for the mouth that went sharp at the table, The palm that came down, the cup I left shaking. No clean hands offered. No price I could pay. He opens His own. I have nothing to trade. [Final Hook] Empty hands. A world to hold. You said the word. AND IT WAS SO. [Outro] I slide my open palm beneath Dad's cup.
