Nick Sanford didn't start Toss & Fire with a massive investment or a perfectly mapped-out business plan. He put his first pizza trailer on a credit card, started building the business on the side, and left his job just weeks later to see if he could make it work. More than a decade later, Toss & Fire has grown from that first mobile pizza trailer into multiple brick-and-mortar locations, food trucks, a major presence at the New York State Fair, and one of Central New York's most recognizable local food brands. In this episode of Someday Soon, Nick shares the reality behind that growth — from nearly not being able to pay the mortgage during his first winter in business to opening a restaurant across from Twin Trees without realizing just how big of a Syracuse institution it was, earning one of the premier vendor locations at the State Fair, creating food that went viral, learning to delegate, and getting comfortable with taking calculated risks. We also talk about entrepreneurship, overthinking, building a local brand, marketing, community, family, failure, and why Nick's next goal isn't necessarily getting bigger — it's getting better at enjoying what he's already built. Someday Soon is about the people in the middle of the journey — building careers, businesses and lives they're proud of before the story is finished. Subscriber Count: 64
