Ep-1: I Left Las Vegas on a 9,225-Mile Journey to Alaska | Day 1

This is it. After months of preparation, the Alaska Expedition officially begins at Mile Zero in Las Vegas. Over the next 45 days, I will ride 9,225 miles from Las Vegas all the way to Alaska and back, traveling through some of the most spectacular landscapes in North America. But on Day 1, the enormity of the journey hasn't really sunk in yet. I leave Las Vegas and head north, crossing Nevada, Arizona, and Utah before making my first major stop at Kolob Canyons in Zion National Park. After riding through the Virgin River Gorge and across some spectacular red-rock country, the reality of the journey slowly begins to set in. This is also the beginning of a new challenge: everything I need for the next 45 days is packed onto one motorcycle. My camera equipment. My photography gear. My clothes. My medical kit. My essentials. Everything. Just one motorcycle, 9,225 miles, 45 days, and a long road to Alaska. Day 1 isn't about spectacular mileage or a huge destination. It's about getting started. And sometimes, getting started is the hardest part.
