Could China’s GranOcean X32 change what buyers expect from a 100-foot yacht?
With a 39-foot beam, an all-carbon design, and a builder-stated range target of roughly 5,000 nautical miles, this Chinese power catamaran raises big questions about space, efficiency, and life aboard.
In this video, we explore the X32’s design, hybrid and solar options, and the practical compromises behind its impressive width. We compare it with the Sunreef 100 Power Eco, Westport 117, and Nordhavn 96—three very different choices for buyers in the American market.
We also examine China’s growing role in yacht and sailboat construction, including Heysea and HH Catamarans. Can Chinese brands turn their manufacturing experience into a stronger ownership experience? And what will matter most: more space, quieter nights, better efficiency, or dependable service?
The X32 was under construction at the time of production, with launch planned for December 2026. Its announced range remains a design target, with performance still to be demonstrated through sea trials.
Would you choose the wider Chinese catamaran or an established cruising yacht? Tell us why in the comments.
