The Incredible Engineering of the '67 Chevy Nova
August, 1961. Willow Run, Michigan. Inside a Chevrolet assembly plant, a line supervisor is staring at a clipboard that says the first production car has to roll off the end of this line in a matter of days, ready for a public introduction already locked into the calendar. There is no buffer left. No extra weeks quietly held in reserve for the inevitable problem nobody saw coming. Eighteen months earlier, this car didn't exist as anything more than a coded project name on an internal memo. Now it has to exist as four wheels, a running engine, and a body shell tight enough to survive a Michigan winter — on schedule, on budget, with almost no margin for a second attempt.
