James Burns homesteaded on the Alberta prairies in 1909. His 3 daughters Margaret, Mary and Catherine were born and raised in this house. Catherine died from illness at age 8. Prairie life was difficult through the 20's and 30's. Margaret and Mary both married and had children. James and Beatrice sold the farm and moved to Calgary in 1941 where they lived out the remained of their lives into their 90's.
