Directing a spec for YSL

A behind-the-scenes look at the making of Get Ready With Me, an independent beauty film shot on Bolex 16mm as a spec piece for YSL Beauty. Watch full beauty film here:    • GET READY WITH ME ~ Beauty Short Film   The idea started after I came across a student film Martin Scorsese made in 1964. I loved the camerawork, pacing, humor, vintage texture and especially the raw sound design and crackling voice-over. Rather than recreating the film, we used that feeling as a starting point and translated it into our own story, dialogue and visual world. That inspiration eventually shaped everything from the decision to shoot on 16mm to the pacing, performances and sound design of the final film. This video takes you behind the process of turning that reference into something of our own, from the original inspiration to the shoot and final result.
