East Midlands Railway Variety 2026 : Part 3, July-September

A look back at some East Midlands Railway variety during the third quarter of the year featuring EMR Regional Class 170s, EMR Intercity Class 222s & Class 810s, and EMR Connect Class 360s at work, mostly filmed around my local area, but with some clips a bit further afield. It was a difficult period for East Midlands Railway following the Elstow crash, but add on top of that the poor Class 810 Aurora reliability and late delivery, plus Class 222 Meridians going off-lease to Lumo first and then the first few ready for Scotrail, and things got even worse with an emergency Intercity timetable being introduced. Connect services would often be short-formed too having lst 360115 at Elstow and others going for the very late promised overhaul, the first few of those often not working as they should too. Services were ramped back up again in the Autumn, but still not too the full timetable and the days of regular pairings of Class 222s have gone. There's rumour of a pair of Class 221 Voyagers(221142 & 221143 from Grand Central)coming across to assist during the Autumn/Winter, so they may appear in Part 4 - watch this space!
