Shino doesn’t work like that. In this video, I’m preparing and using two Shino glazes I’ve tested for years. The recipes are stable. The process is repeatable. But what happens next isn’t. Shino reacts to everything: – how it’s mixed – how it’s applied – how thick or thin it sits – how long it dries And most of all - how you move with it. This is the part many potters struggle with. Because it’s not about perfect technique. It’s about letting the glaze move. Working with it instead of trying to force it. That’s where things start to change. You’ll see: – how I mix and prepare the glazes – how I set up for glazing – different ways of applying shino (pouring, dipping, layering) – glazing more complex forms like teapots and lids – and the full batch of work drying before firing Nothing here is rushed.
