I Found a Train Graveyard in the Bolivian Desert 🇧🇴

A graveyard full of abandoned trains in the middle of Bolivia’s desert! 🇧🇴 In this video, I explore the Uyuni Train Cemetery, where rusting steam engines and empty carriages stretch across a dusty landscape. Known as the Cementerio de Trenes, this unusual place sits just outside Uyuni in southwestern Bolivia, near the famous Salar de Uyuni salt flats. These old locomotives are reminders of Bolivia’s mining and railway history, when trains carried minerals towards ports on the Pacific coast. Today, their rusted shells stand out in the open desert. For an Indian traveller, the barren terrain and wide skies might bring to mind parts of Ladakh and Spiti, while the nearby salt flats invite comparisons with Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch.
