Inktober Tangles Day 10 — Floatfest A crown fit for royalty, created one stroke at a time. 👑🖤 For Day 10 of Inktober Tangles, I’m exploring Floatfest by Carole Ohl, an organic, cascading pattern of layered arches, flowing curves, and aura-like bands that seem to float above the surface. As I tangled, I began to see a royal crown taking shape. The sweeping arches became its ornate tiers, each one rising above the next like sculpted filigree. Beneath them, glossy black teardrops became precious dark jewels, complete with bright white highlights that give them a polished, almost reflective finish. And then there’s the band at the bottom: Onamato, with its beautiful rows of rounded orbs. These little spheres look like jewels set into the crown’s base, adding another layer of richness and ornamentation to the design. Drawn in black and white on brown cardboard, this piece is all about contrast, curves, shading, and tiny details. Wispy lines soften the arches, white highlights bring the dark shapes to life, and the repeating patterns create a sense of depth without needing a single splash of colour. I love how a tangle can take you somewhere you never expected. I started with a pattern and ended up with what looks like an antique royal treasure — perhaps a crown from a forgotten kingdom, waiting to be discovered in an old treasure chest. That’s the beauty of Zentangle: there’s no need to know the destination. Just follow the next stroke and let the art reveal itself. Stay tuned for the BIG reveal at the end of Inktober! #Inktober #Inktober2026 #InktoberTangles #Zentangle #Floatfest #CaroleOhl #Onamato #CrownJewels #ZentangleArt #Riddhikulus
