MONUSCO has issued an official update following the 3 November 2026 meeting in Goma between its chief, James Swan, former Congolese President Joseph Kabila and representatives of the FRN. According to MONUSCO, Swan stressed three priorities: supporting peace processes, respecting the ceasefire and pursuing a peaceful resolution to the conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The UN mission also confirmed that Swan met with officials from EJVM+, known in French as MCVE+, to discuss ceasefire monitoring and verification efforts. MONUSCO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the mechanism and ongoing peace efforts in accordance with its mandate.
