Still in Malaysia – Day 28: he saw three wild elephants on this road last night, and I drove it this morning. Day 14 of my Malaysia road trip: 109 km from the Belum rainforest over the East-West Highway to Gerik, then the hill road FT76 via Pengkalan Hulu to Baling in Kedah. The resort staff member I talked to at dinner gave me an elephant keyring for my wooden shoe from Holland. In Gerik I reached the market just as it closed and got candy for a klompje. Then the hill road, a RM 99 room at the foot of the mountain in Baling, a storm that stranded me, the painted streets of Baling and a wall about the Baling Talks of 1955, satay for 90 sen, and in the evening a stranger paid for my dinner.
