I was on BBC London News as the National Federation of the Blind of the UK (NFBUK) delivered a petition calling for the removal of floating bus stops and highlighting the dangers they pose to Blind and Disabled people. The campaign is about safety, accessibility and the right of Blind and Disabled people to travel independently without fear. Floating bus stops create serious barriers, particularly for Blind and partially sighted pedestrians who may encounter cyclists travelling along the cycle lane between the pavement and the bus stop. We need transport infrastructure that works for everyone, not infrastructure that puts Blind and Disabled people at risk. Accessibility is not optional. Safety is not negotiable.
