After our wild adventure deep inside the Qadisha Valley, Mechwar Bel Wadi 2025 Episode 2 takes us back to Bsharri — this time to slow down, walk through the village, meet its people, eat, and understand its extraordinary history. We start, naturally, with breakfast! A beautiful local success story that grew from a small saj operation into a proper bakery and kitchen, with wood-fired manakish, kaak, eggs baked in clay pots, zaatar, labneh and even knefeh prepared over the fire. Great food and a reminder that ambitious projects can thrive in Lebanon’s villages. Then the exploration begins. We walk through Bsharri and discover its churches, cliffs, religious heritage and the incredible relationship between the people of this region and the surrounding mountains. We hear stories about Mar Mama, early Christianity and the Maronite presence that became deeply rooted in these valleys. The journey eventually takes us to one of Bsharri’s most important cultural landmarks: the Gibran Museum, dedicated to Gibran Khalil Gibran. Beyond being one of Lebanon’s most internationally recognized writers and artists, Gibran remains inseparable from the identity of his hometown. We continue through Bsharri’s streets and square, discovering another side of the village — its architecture, stories, personalities and everyday life. And after a full day of walking and learning, it’s time to enjoy Bsharri at night with dinner out, good food and good company. This episode is less about adventure and more about understanding the soul of Bsharri: its people, faith, history, food, culture and connection to the Qadisha Valley.
