Torrey Pines - La Jolla, California Day 3: Torrey Pines Golf & Reserve, Black's Beach, Fiery Sunset

Torrey Pines – La Jolla Peninsula, California – San Diego Pacific Ocean Beach Adventure – Day 3/3 On Day 3 we visit the Torrey Pines Golf Course, Lodge & Reserve, have the perfect sunny day in the crystal clear teal-blue Pacific Ocean at Black’s Beach, and then enjoy a breathtaking fiery red San Diego sunset. Torrey Pines Golf Course, high above the Pacific Ocean on the towering cliffs of Torrey Pines, is a must visit for golf lovers coming to San Diego, and renowned as one of the top golf courses in California. The views across the ocean and the coastline are just incredible, so even if you aren’t a golf lover, this is just such a beautiful place to come and visit. Opened in 1957, it was built on the site of Camp Callan, a U.S. Army installation during World War II. Torrey Pines has two 18-hole courses, North and South, designed by William Francis Bell. This is a municipal golf course, owned by the city of San Diego and it is open to the public. In addition to the golf course, there are two hotels, the Torrey Pines Hilton, and the Lodge at Torrey Pines. Both of which have incredible panoramic views across the course to the Pacific Ocean, and lush sub-tropical landscaping full of soft green foliage, blooming flowers, and sculptural coastal succulents. It’s another beautiful beach day on our third day in La Jolla, California, this one might be the most beautiful one of all. The marine layer has burned off and the incredible ocean, sky, and cliff panorama is unveiled. The color of the water is just unbelievable today, so teal-blue and vivid, it really takes the sting out of hauling myself up and down this cliff three days in a row. As we carefully make our way down the cliff stairs, every level is a new and more beautiful panorama of blue sky, teal ocean, and golden sand and cliffs. The tide is out, and a big wide flat beach awaits us down here. The water has been so refreshing, just the perfect temperature a degree or two cooler than the air, and the salt is incredible for my skin and hair. The fiery red sunset on the Pacific Ocean is one of the most quintessential San Diego coastal experiences, and this panoramic beauty is one for the ages! Wispy clouds, reflections on the wet sand, fiery-red sunset, and the glistening metallic waves combine to create a technicolor ocean sunset panorama. I guess nature chose to save the best for last on this trip, this sunset is truly incredible, one of the most beautiful I’ve seen amongst hundreds of exquisite sunsets on the Pacific here. The sky is ablaze with fiery reds, orange, yellow and purple in the glorious afterglow. It’s been an incredible day on the coast here in Torrey Pines and La Jolla, and I’m so glad that we were able to explore my favorite beach together.
