In this session, Becky is working with her German Shepherd, Janie, on creating more drive for the ball while also teaching her that bringing the toy back is part of the game. The goal is not simply to chase the ball. We want Janie to strike the toy with commitment, possess it, return quickly, and come back ready to fight and play with Becky. 🎯 WHAT ARE WE BUILDING? ⚡ More arousal and desire for the ball 🎾 A stronger, more committed strike 🐕 A faster return to the handler 💪 More interactive play ❤️ Greater engagement with Becky The progression is: STRIKE → GRAB → RETURN → FIGHT & PLAY One of the biggest lessons is teaching Janie that: BRINGING THE BALL BACK DOES NOT END THE GAME — IT MAKES THE GAME CONTINUE. Becky is also using light leash pressure during the return. When that pressure is released as Janie commits to coming back, that portion of the exercise can function as negative reinforcement (-R). The goal is to create more commitment to the return while immediately transitioning back into active play. We want a dog that intensely wants the toy, but also understands that the best way to keep the game going is to bring it back and re-engage with the handler. 🐾 PRODOGZ DOG TRAINING https://www.prodogz.com 🏆 ONLINE IGP & SCHUTZHUND COACHING https://www.igpcoach.com 🐕 ROGUE VALLEY SCHUTZHUND CLUB https://www.rvschutzhund.com 📞 541-608-2857 📱 Call/Text: 541-944-6419 ⭐ 30+ YEARS OF REAL-WORLD DOG TRAINING MOTION CREATES EMOTION.
