BURAT ERUPTS! RESIDENTS BLOCK ISIOLO–OLDONYIRO ROAD AFTER 18-YEAR-OLD IS SHOT DEAD

Leaders and residents in Burat Ward have staged protests and blocked the Isiolo–KMC–Oldonyiro road, demanding justice following the killing of an 18-year-old man who was shot dead on Sunday. Speaking to journalists during the demonstrations, the residents, led by their MCA Nicholas Lorot, condemned what they described as repeated killings allegedly carried out by criminals from a neighbouring county. They called on the government to strengthen security in the area, warning that they would continue with the demonstrations until action is taken. The protesters also demanded that communities who have entered the area in search of pasture leave immediately, saying their presence has contributed to tensions and conflicts. They further called for the return of their firearms.
