Dharan-15 is a ward in the Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City of eastern Nepal, and its forest is known as the Bajhagara Community Forest. This area is part of the larger Dharan Forests, a significant stretch of tropical forest in the Sunsari and Morang districts. #🌳 A Sanctuary for Wildlife and Birds The Dharan Forests, including the area in Ward 15, are recognized as an Important Bird Area (IBA). These forests are a critical habitat for biodiversity: Bird Species: The forest supports an estimated 300 bird species, including globally threatened birds like the Lesser Adjutant and White-rumped Vulture. It is also a key site for species like Abbott's Babbler and the Red Junglefowl. Mammals: The forest is home to animals such as the Bengal Fox, Hanuman Langur, Wild Boar, and Black Giant Squirrel. Wildlife Corridor: Notably, the forest serves as a main corridor route for Asian Elephants migrating into east Nepal from India. 📍 A Local Landmark The Biswakarma Temple, a Hindu temple, is located within Dharan-15, adding a cultural landmark to this forested area.
