Hyper-Imperialism in the Contemporary World: The Struggle for Global Sovereignty Empires may lose their colonies—but not necessarily their power. In the contemporary world, domination is no longer exercised only through armies, occupations, and territorial conquest. It also operates through sanctions, financial exclusion, technological restrictions, regime-change strategies, media narratives, and the power to decide which states are considered legitimate—and which are treated as threats. In this specialized interview, the Human Rights Institute of the University of Isfahan (HRIUI) speaks with Dr. Vijay Prashad, historian, political analyst, writer, and Executive Director of the Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, about the rise of “Hyper-Imperialism” and the changing architecture of global power.
