Houdini is a 1.8-mile intermediate slickrock mountain bike trail in the Klonzo South trail system near Moab, Utah. At 1.8 miles, it is the longest individual trail in Klonzo South and offers an extended taste of the area's classic slickrock riding.
Rather than following conventional dirt singletrack for most of the route, the riding line is painted directly onto the rock. The surface can feel bumpy, but the trail trends mostly downhill or contours across the terrain, allowing riders to carry moderate speed in places. A few small drops and subtle terrain features add variety without dominating the ride.
Houdini flows naturally out of Zoltar. My preferred direction is to begin on the eastern side, ride south through the generally descending portion of the route, and then loop back toward Redhot. This also makes Houdini useful as part of a longer ride linking Klonzo North and South.
The terrain is similar to Zoltar, but I found Houdini more enjoyable because it is longer, subtly steeper, and contains more interesting features while retaining the same pale, bumpy slickrock character.
This video documents the complete Houdini trail as part of the Endless SingleTrack Klonzo Trail Series, a trail-by-trail collection covering Klonzo North and Klonzo South near Moab, Utah. Use the series to preview individual trails, research route combinations, plan a ride, or experience the trails virtually.
