What if Canada could build the electric car of the future without relying on gasoline, foreign designs, or someone else’s blueprint? Project Arrow is putting that idea to the test.
In this video, we explore Canada’s Project Arrow and its newest electric prototype concepts, Vector and Borealis. We break down their ambitious electric powertrains, projected driving ranges, AI-assisted design, 3D-printed structures, automated-driving technology, and what these vehicles could mean for Canada’s automotive industry.
We also examine the bigger story behind Project Arrow: why Canada wants to move beyond simply assembling vehicles designed elsewhere, how Canadian universities and automotive suppliers are contributing, and why electric-vehicle technology could create new opportunities for Canadian manufacturing.
But there are major challenges. We look at EV performance in extreme Canadian winters, charging infrastructure, battery weight, range limitations, repairability, software dependence, privacy, and the enormous gap between a prototype and a mass-produced vehicle.
Vector is presented as a platform aimed toward the technology expected around 2030, while Borealis looks toward a much more distant 2040-and-beyond future. Their projected specifications are ambitious, but projections are not the same as independently verified production results.
The bigger question is not simply whether an electric car can eliminate the gas station. It is whether Canada can build the technology, manufacturing capability, infrastructure, and skilled workforce needed to compete in the next generation of automobiles.
