Four coffee products from familiar brands looked completely normal on the shelf — but each ended up being recalled for a different reason.
We investigate 4 coffee recalls involving Starbucks, Clover Valley, Intelligentsia, and Our Family — and show shoppers what to check on the package.
If you drink coffee or shop for groceries, there's a simple line on the package worth checking.
In this investigation, we look at 4 coffee recalls involving Starbucks Frappuccino, Clover Valley Instant Coffee, Intelligentsia canned cold brew, and Our Family decaf coffee.
The problems were very different: glass in a packaged product, a manufacturing process that was not properly documented, and coffee that was labeled decaf even though part of the production run contained regular caffeinated coffee.
What makes these cases worth looking at is how ordinary the products appeared. A familiar coffee brand, a trusted name, or a low price did not tell shoppers what had happened at the manufacturing facility.
We'll also explain how the FDA classifies food recalls, why some recalls receive very little public attention, and where shoppers can find the information that actually identifies a recalled product — including the manufacturer, lot code, and best-by date.
This channel looks at the food, coffee, grocery products, labels, and brands people actually buy in American stores. The goal is not to create panic. It's to help shoppers understand what they're buying and know where to look when something needs to be checked.
If you drink coffee regularly, shop for groceries, or simply want to know more about the products in your kitchen, this investigation is for you.
