Fëanor made three jewels that held the light of the Two Trees, and Morgoth carried them into the dark. A Tolkien fan film of golden age of Valinor, the Silmarils and the Darkening, with a power metal song.
THE STORY
In the Elder Days, before the Sun and the Moon, Valinor was lit by the Two Trees, silver Telperion and golden Laurelin. Fëanor, the greatest craftsman of the Noldor, caught their mingled light in three jewels, the Silmarils, and Varda hallowed them so that no evil hand could touch them unburned. Melkor coveted them. With Ungoliant he killed the Trees, darkness fell on Valinor, and he fled north with the jewels and set them in his iron crown. Fëanor named him Morgoth, the Black Foe of the World, and in the square of Tirion he swore his terrible Oath to win them back, whatever it would cost.
This film shows Valinor's golden age as we imagine it: Manwë on Taniquetil, the Elves of Tirion, the young Fëanor at Aulë's forge, the making and the unveiling of the three jewels, the night the light died, Fëanor's call to arms, and the crown in Angband.
THE SONG
"The Silmarillion" was written for this film. The lyrics are in Quenya, with the English translation below. For fans of Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Rhapsody of Fire and Tolkien metal.
Amanessë nu eleni — In Aman, beneath the stars,
Telperion síla ninquë — Telperion shines white.
Laurelin, laurëa nárë — Laurelin, golden flame,
cala lanta or Eldamar — light falls over Eldamar.
Silmarilli, neldë míri — Silmarils, three jewels,
cala Aldaron mi te — the light of the Trees within them.
Varda airitane te — Varda hallowed them,
cala tennoio — light for ever.
Fëanáro carnë neldë — Fëanor made three;
mi muina sambë sílar — in a hidden chamber they shine.
Ninquë silmë, laurëa úrë — white starlight, golden fire,
lá vanwa mi míri — not lost, within the jewels.
Haiya Melkor tirë — Far away, Melkor watches.
Ar i míri sílar — And the jewels shine.
